Identity Information Protection

Millions of plastic cards are personalized daily for cardholders by printing or embossing personal, confidential, identity information. Thermal printing ribbons and embossing topping foils carry an image of confidential information put onto cards such as name, account numbers, expiration date, etc. Any card issuer should shred used ribbons to protect the identity information of the cardholder and to protect themselves from potential liability arising from stolen ribbons.

Businesses should destroy these in order to protect themselves from potential liability due to the information that can be extracted (stolen) from these used ribbons and foils.  Unfortunately ribbons cannot be run through a regular shredder because the ribbon will get stuck in the gears and ruin the shredder.  The Rippa works with most top feeding office shredders and sandwiches the ribbons and foil between two sheets of paper so that it may be run through the shredder without destroying it.
